A burn is an injury to the skin and sometimes also to underlying tissue as a result of exposure to a source of heat. The severity of the burn depends on the intensity of the heat and the duration of exposure. Burns can be classified into 4 degrees: a first-degree burn is the least severe and does not normally require any medical attention. Second-degree burns or higher do require treatment, with the third and fourth degrees which are the most severe having the ability to cause various complications and even death.
A combination of systemic and local treatments using the Oxypro method shortens healing time and reduces scar formation. In addition, it also assists in reducing the severe pain normally associated with burns and their treatment.
Using the Health Cream ointment makes it easier to replace dressings, as the fatty layer prevents the bandage from sticking to the burn, and this makes it possible to replace it conveniently without pain and without hurting the regenerating skin. In most cases, using this treatment makes it possible for the body to cover the burnt area with normal skin which is free of scars, making skin transplants unnecessary. The treatment also helps in reducing secondary complications such as severe infections. In extensive burns this method reduces morbidity and death.
Our experience shows that the healing speed of burns until full recovery is achieved is about half the expected time. In most cases the treatment only leads to minimal scarring with no contractures (hardening of the scar and reduced mobility of the body part). Skin flexibility improves and so does the body part’s mobility, and when the recovery process is complete there is almost no scarring. In patients arriving at an advanced stage with dark, deformed scars (keloids), it is possible to improve the scar’s appearance and the body part’s flexibility and mobility with the treatment.
